When we’re walking through a challenging season, it’s tempting to believe that our only option is to keep pushing through until it’s done. To keep going until we reach the end. To forgo rest, asking for help, or opening up to receive connection until we’ve arrived at our next destination.
But sometimes, when we’re deep in it, the most valuable choice we can make is to take a step back. To go outside and look at the sky for a minute. To play that song that we just can’t resist. To have that conversation we’ve been avoiding. To give ourselves a moment to laugh, cry, or learn.
Because when we tell ourselves we have to keep going until we reach the end, we miss the lessons we can only find in the journey.
And it’s the lessons we find in the journey that help to prepare us for what’s next.
